Buying Guide
Radiant exists to solve a specific problem: people who want the shape of an emerald cut without its clarity exposure. Because the faceting underneath is brilliant rather than step, a radiant scatters light and hides small inclusions far better than a step cut of the same grade, while keeping the rectangular footprint. It is an unusual combination and it is the entire reason the shape was designed.
Against a cushion, which shares the softened-corner idea, a radiant flashes harder and reads more modern — that is the honest difference between the two. Its corners are cropped rather than sharp, so there is less to protect than on a princess and no point to guard as on a pear. It remains the least-known of the rectangular outlines, which is usually good news on price. Every stone is IGI-certified in D–F colour, VVS–VS clarity and Excellent cut, made to order with free worldwide shipping.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a radiant cut?
A rectangular or square stone with cropped corners and brilliant faceting underneath — the outline of an emerald cut with the light behaviour of a round. It gives you the architectural shape without the clarity exposure of a step cut, which is why it hides inclusions better than an emerald cut of the same grade. We carry 78 radiant pieces across the range.
Radiant or emerald cut — what is the real difference?
The facets, not the outline. Both are cropped-corner rectangles, but an emerald cut is a step cut with long open facets and broad flashes, while a radiant is faceted like a brilliant and sparkles continuously. If you like the emerald shape but want more fire, the radiant is the answer.
What is the difference between a cushion and a radiant cut?
Cushion has softly rounded corners and a broad, pillowy scintillation that reads warmer and more antique. Radiant has cropped straight corners and brilliant faceting underneath, so it flashes harder and looks more modern. We carry 129 cushion and 78 radiant pieces across the range; shoppers who like the outline of one often prefer the light behaviour of the other.
Can I change the shape after ordering?
No, not once production starts. Every Beyond Carat piece is made to order, so the shape is fixed at the point of order. If you need to change a specification, contact us on (888) 625-7772 as soon as possible and we will tell you honestly whether the piece has entered production yet.
Does the shape change the price of a lab grown diamond?
Yes. Round costs the most per carat because cutting it wastes the most rough material. Step cuts such as emerald and asscher, and elongated brilliants such as marquise, generally cost less at the same weight. Across our range the same budget will usually buy noticeably more carat weight in an emerald cut than in a round.
