Is an oval a good alternative to a round diamond?
It is the most popular alternative, and for a practical reason. An oval is a brilliant cut, so it keeps most of the round’s light behaviour while costing less per carat and showing more surface area for the same weight. How big is a 3 carat diamond on a finger?
A 3-carat round measures roughly 9.3mm across, which covers most of the width of an average finger and reads unmistakably large from across a table. Shape shifts that a lot: a 3-carat oval or marquise spans further lengthwise and looks larger again, while an asscher of the same weight sits more compactly. We recommend judging it on the hand rather than on paper.
Why is platinum more expensive than gold?
Density, mostly. Platinum is significantly heavier than gold, so the same ring takes noticeably more metal, and it is worked at higher temperatures. You are also buying a metal that needs no plating for the life of the piece. We carry 458 platinum designs across every shape we cut.
Is rose gold durable?
Rose gold is the hardest of our three golds. Its color comes from copper in the alloy, and copper is harder than the silver and palladium used in yellow and white gold, so at the same purity a rose gold band resists scratching slightly better. It also needs no plating, so its color does not change with wear.
Is a lab grown diamond a good investment?
No, and we would not sell one on that basis. An investment is something you expect to be worth more later; a diamond of any origin is a purchase you expect to enjoy.
