Yellow Gold Lab Grown Diamond Rings

Yellow gold is coloured through rather than plated, so it never needs re-plating and its color does not change with wear.

Buying Guide

Yellow gold is the lowest-maintenance metal in the range. There is no plating to wear off, so the only upkeep is cleaning and the occasional polish to remove fine scratches. Purity is the decision that matters here rather than treatment: 10k is 41.7% gold and the hardest of the three, 14k at 58.3% is the U.S. default for daily wear, and 18k at 75% gives the deepest color with slightly less hardness.

A warm metal reflects a little color into the stone from below, which with a lower color grade would show. Because we hold a D–F floor across the whole range, that never becomes a problem here — the stone stays colourless while the ring reads warm, which is usually the effect people are after when they choose yellow. Everything is made to order with free worldwide shipping and 65-day returns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does yellow gold need any maintenance?

No plating and no re-plating. Yellow gold is coloured through, so its color does not change with wear — the only maintenance is cleaning and the occasional polish to remove fine scratches. That makes it the lowest-upkeep gold we offer. We carry 458 yellow gold designs across the range, from 10k through 18k.

Does yellow gold make a diamond look warmer?

It can, slightly, because the metal reflects into the stone from below. With a lower color grade that shows; with our D–F floor it does not become a problem. If you want the coldest possible white in the stone, choose platinum or white gold; if you want the ring to read warm as a whole, yellow gold is the point.

What is the difference between 10k, 14k and 18k gold?

Gold content. 10k is 41.7% gold, 14k is 58.3% and 18k is 75%, with the remainder made up of alloy metals that give the piece its color and hardness. Higher purity means richer color and slightly lower hardness. All three are offered on every Beyond Carat design that carries a purity option.

Which gold purity should I choose for a ring worn daily?

14k is the practical default in the U.S. and the one we recommend for daily wear. At 58.3% gold it holds color well while keeping enough alloy for hardness, which matters on a ring that meets desks, door handles and car keys every day. 18k is a reasonable choice if you prefer the deeper color.

Does the metal change how the diamond looks?

At the margins, yes. A white metal keeps a colourless stone reading colourless. Yellow and rose gold reflect a little warmth into the stone, which can make a lower color grade look warmer than it is. Because we hold a D–F color floor across the range, our stones perform well in all four metals.
