Pricing & Grade Philosophy

The most important thing to understand about Grown Brilliance's pricing is its 2025–2026 premiumization: the brand phased out G color and lower grades entirely, so every stone is D–F color, VS2–IF clarity, Excellent or Ideal cut. Beautiful stones — but it means there is no budget-friendly option, and its complete 1-carat rings start around $1,695, with round solitaires typically $2,195–$2,395.

Beyond Carat takes the opposite view: you should choose the certified grades. In most ring sizes, an F/VS2 and a well-cut H/SI1 look identical to the naked eye, and the price difference is real money. Our 1-carat solitaires start around $1,049, and the customizer shows exactly what each grade step costs as you configure carat, color, clarity, and metal.

Bottom line: if you only want D–F/VS2+ grades, compare both directly — Beyond Carat can build that spec too, usually for less. If you're value-hunting, Grown Brilliance no longer plays in that range at all.

Selection & Design

Grown Brilliance's genuine strength is its catalog: a large, distinctive, designer-style setting range, roughly 160,000 loose stones with 360° videos, ready-to-ship pieces in Good/Better/Best tiers, and a "Truly Custom" bespoke service. Reviewers consistently praise the design quality, and its Trustpilot rating sits at "Excellent" (~4.5/5).

Beyond Carat's catalog is curated rather than encyclopedic — solitaires, three-stone, halo, and hidden-halo designs among others, each configurable in metal, carat, and grades, with 360° views and video on product pages. You won't browse 160,000 stones; you'll configure the one you want.

Certification & Paperwork

Both brands rely primarily on IGI grading, and Grown Brilliance also carries some GIA-graded stones. One practical note from independent reviews: Grown Brilliance certificates may need to be requested from customer service after purchase, and its return policy charges $100 per missing certificate. Beyond Carat ships the IGI report with your order.

Bottom line: same grading standards; keep your certificate safe either way.

Returns, Warranty & Care

The policies are close to identical on paper: 30-day free returns from ship date with prepaid UPS labels, store credit for custom pieces, one complimentary resize inside 30 days, and a lifetime manufacturing warranty with the usual exclusions (wear and tear, trauma, third-party repairs). Grown Brilliance sells paid "Extend" protection plans for accidental damage; independent reviewers have called them overpriced, and warranty-denial complaints ("normal wear and tear") appear in its BBB record. Bottom line: read the exclusions at both brands; the written warranties are similar, so service execution is what differs.

Speed

Grown Brilliance's in-stock, ready-to-ship pieces move fast (1–6 business days). Its made-to-order production, however, runs about 3 weeks before shipping, and production delays on made-to-order pieces are a recurring theme in customer reviews. Beyond Carat manufactures in-house in New York with selectable production speed: Regular (~15 days), Express (~7 days), or Next-Day on select pieces ordered before 2:45 PM ET.

Bottom line: for a made-to-order ring on a proposal deadline, Beyond Carat's express options give you more control.
