Liori Diamonds Alternatives
Five lab-grown jewelers people cross-shop against Liori, ranked by what they actually publish rather than by what they advertise.
Liori Diamonds sells GIA-graded lab diamonds from a Fifth Avenue showroom, and if a GIA report is your requirement, no alternative here replaces it. If you would rather have one unambiguous returns window, a lifetime manufacturing warranty and an IGI report in the box, four alternatives are worth a look.
Every rival term below was lifted straight from that seller’s live site. Last updated .

Read from each brand’s own policy, product and about pages on 19 August 2026. No brand listed here is affiliated with Beyond Carat in any way. No competitor prices appear anywhere on this page: lab-grown pricing moves week to week, so the only fair comparison is two live listings at matching certified grades on the day you buy. Where Liori Wins, Where We Win
Where Liori wins
- GIA. Their GIA-graded collection holds 98 lab-grown products; we are IGI-only and cannot match it at any price
- A walk-in showroom on Fifth Avenue, where you can put the ring on your hand before deciding
- A trade-in offering up to 100% of your purchase amount for a lifetime, with sale items excluded
- A longer track record — BBB records the business as trading since June 2006
- One catalogue covering lab, natural, moissanite and coloured gemstones, if you are still weighing the stone type
Where Beyond Carat wins
- One returns answer: 30 days from the date your order ships, with a free prepaid insured UPS label on US orders
- A grading report in the box at every carat size, not on request
- A published floor of D, E or F colour, VVS or VS clarity and Excellent cut — no G, H or SI stones in the range
- A lifetime manufacturing warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship
- Free worldwide shipping, and 100% lab-grown with nothing mined in the catalogue
What Sends Shoppers Looking Past Liori
Two things, mostly. The first is the returns fine print. Liori’s refund policy sets the window at 14 days counted from receipt and adds a 15% restocking fee on sized rings; its terms page sets it at 30 days with money back guaranteed; and its own Liori Advantage page prints both claims together. None of that means a buyer will be treated badly — it means a buyer cannot tell in advance which sentence governs their order, which is an uncomfortable position on a four-figure purchase.
The second is the grade spread. Liori’s GIA lab collection is largely D to F, but it reaches G and H colour, and its loose stock runs down to SI1 clarity and Very Good cut. That is a wider net than the D–F, VVS–VS, Excellent-cut band we hold to, and for a shopper chasing maximum carat it is a feature rather than a fault. The two positions are simply different products, and the comparison only works if you decide which one you are buying.
What to check in any replacement: which laboratory graded the stone, whether the report travels with the piece, how many return windows the site publishes, what the warranty excludes rather than what it covers, and whether resizing has a deadline.
Five Jewelers Worth Comparing
1. Beyond Carat
Best for one policy, one grade band, one labThis is our own entry, so read it with that in mind. Beyond Carat is a women-led lab-grown house working out of the NYC Diamond District. Every diamond is graded by IGI, the International Gemological Institute, and the report ships in the box, whatever the carat weight; the range is held to D, E or F colour, VVS or VS clarity and Excellent cut, so the cheapest stone we sell sits in the same band as the dearest. Rings are made to order with Regular, Express and, on eligible pieces, Next-Day production. Returns run 30 days from the date your order ships, with a free prepaid insured UPS label on US orders, and the warranty is a lifetime manufacturing warranty. Complete one-carat solitaires start around $1,049. The honest trade-offs against Liori: no GIA option, no retail space, no published trade-in terms, and, in August 2026, a Trustpilot base of 43 against a far older business.
2. Brilliant Earth
Best for trying rings on across the countryLiori solves the confidence problem with one Manhattan address. Brilliant Earth solves it with a showroom network spread across the United States, which matters if you do not live within reach of 47th Street. It carries both natural and lab-grown stones and grades across several laboratories including GIA, so the GIA requirement that keeps people at Liori is answerable here too. It is also the most self-aware competitor in the category: it publishes its own brand-versus-brand guides, which is worth knowing when you are reading comparisons.
3. Rare Carat
Best for choosing your own laboratoryIf the reason you were at Liori is the GIA report, Rare Carat lets you filter for it directly: over 1.5 million listed lab-grown stones carrying GIA, IGI or GCAL reports, with colour running D through K. It draws on vetted wholesale supply while remaining the seller of record itself, which means refunds, warranty claims and support all sit with Rare Carat rather than with an outside vendor — do not read it as a marketplace that hands you off. Resizing runs for a full twelve months, which beats our 30-day window outright. The limit is geography: delivery covers the fifty states plus Canada and stops there.
4. MiaDonna
Best for the longest return windowLab-grown only since 2005 and a Certified B Corporation, which is an outside audit of the ethics claim rather than a self-declaration — we have nothing equivalent. Returns run 60 days from the ship date, free, with no restocking fee, and unlike our free label they cover international orders as well as domestic. Two clauses to read first: custom orders come back as store credit instead of a card refund, and $50 is deducted for each missing diamond certificate. The gap in their disclosure is the one Liori does not have — the laboratory behind the grades is never named on any of their public pages.
5. Grown Brilliance
Best for a narrow band plus retail locationsThe closest structural match to what Liori shoppers usually want from us. Grown Brilliance publishes a premium-only floor of D through F colour with VS2 through IF clarity, which is the same refusal to sell down-grade that we practise, and it runs 14 US locations, which we do not. Grading is primarily IGI with some GIA. If your shortlist came down to Liori for the showroom and us for the grade discipline, this is the brand that does both at once, and it is worth putting in front of the other two before you decide.
Which One Fits You
Stay with Liori if…
- A GIA report on the stone is non-negotiable and you want it from a New York seller
- You want to walk in, handle the piece and leave the same day
- A lifetime trade-in credit changes how you think about the purchase
- You are still choosing between lab, natural and moissanite in one place
Look elsewhere if…
- You want a single published return window you can point at before ordering
- You want the grading report physically in the box rather than promised
- You want the seller to guarantee the grade band, not just the paperwork
- You have already ruled out mined stones and want a lab-grown-only house
Our read: the GIA question decides this for most people. If you need GIA, Liori answers it and we do not — go there, or to Rare Carat if you would rather filter by laboratory yourself. If GIA was never the point and you simply wanted a New York lab-grown specialist, the returns wording is the reason to keep shopping. Our IGI versus GIA page sets out what actually separates the two laboratories.
Frequently Asked Questions
Some are. Liori runs a live GIA-graded collection of 98 products, and every one returned by its storefront is a lab-grown ring. Its own blog puts it as a grading report from either GIA or IGI accompanying the stone. Beyond Carat is IGI-only and cannot supply a GIA report at any price.
Liori publishes two. The refund policy gives you 14 days counted from receipt, and docks 15% as a restocking charge if the ring was sized; the terms page gives you 30. The Liori Advantage page carries both statements at once. Read the policy that applies to your order before you buy.
Brilliant Earth and Grown Brilliance both run US retail locations, and MiaDonna keeps one flagship in Portland, Oregon. Beyond Carat has no retail space at all — our only face-to-face option is a free 30-minute video or phone consultation.
It is cheaper, not better. A range that reaches G, H or SI grades lets you buy more carat for the same money, which is a genuine advantage. A narrow range removes the risk of choosing badly. Decide which of those two you actually want before comparing prices.
IGI, the International Gemological Institute, and the report ships in the box. That holds at every carat weight we sell. Our stated floor is D, E or F colour, VVS or VS clarity, and Excellent cut, so every stone in the range sits inside that band.
43 on Trustpilot, rated 4.8 and banded Excellent. As of August 2026, every one of our 43 Trustpilot reviews is 4 or 5 stars. That is a small base beside most brands on this page, and Trustpilot labels our profile: Asks customers to review — invites their customers to review, whether positive or negative.
