What is the real difference between these two?

Both sell natural and lab-grown diamonds online, both run 30-day returns, and both claim to solve the problem of buying a ring you cannot hold. Ritani sends the real thing to a person you meet; With Clarity sends a model to your door. Neither is a trick, but they suit different anxieties.

How does Ritani let you see the diamond before buying?

Through a programme it calls Free In-Person Preview. At checkout you choose between “Ship to Me”, “Ship to Store” and “Free Preview with a Diamond Pro”. Pick the preview and your loose diamond or finished ring goes to a Diamond Pro at a shared office-space location near you, who arranges a viewing. You inspect the actual stone, try the ring on, then decide.

The constraints matter. Previews run Monday to Friday in office hours, one item at a time, and you get two a year — a third is treated as final sale and cannot be returned. The viewing must happen within a week of the Diamond Pro receiving the item, and the 30-day return window starts when it reaches them, not you. The service is only offered above a minimum order value.

What does With Clarity actually send you at home?

Replicas. Home Preview mails up to two 3D-printed ring models in a white metallic alloy, set with a diamond simulant. They are not diamonds, and the company says so, describing them as intended only for visual purposes and not extended wear. You keep them seven days, then return them with the prepaid label.

A deposit is charged at order and returns as fully redeemable credit once the replicas come back unworn. They ship at no cost and take up to 14 business days to make.

This answers shape, proportion and how a setting sits on your hand — what photographs are worst at. It answers nothing about the diamond, because there is none in it. To compare two similar stones, it is the wrong instrument.

How do returns, resizing and warranty compare?

We do not publish competitor prices here because they move weekly — compare complete-ring prices at matching certified grades on the day you buy.

Three rows decide most real cases. Ritani’s window starts at shipment, With Clarity’s at receipt — quietly several extra days. Ritani’s resize allowance runs a full year against 30 days, the more useful of the two, since size problems surface after months of wear. And both warranties are narrower than “lifetime” suggests: Ritani states plainly that fine jewelry is not covered, while With Clarity covers cleaning, polishing and accent stones under 0.10ct at no charge, but excludes the centre stone.

Both also punish outside work. Ritani’s warranty is voided if sizing or repair is done by anyone other than Ritani or an approved location, and With Clarity says third-party jeweler work ends return eligibility.

Ritani also accepts Canadian returns only for orders placed up to 28 March 2025, so that route is now effectively closed.

Do the upgrade and buy-back programmes cover lab-grown diamonds?

At Ritani, no — and for a lab-grown buyer this is the most consequential fact here. Ritani Reclaim, its buy-back programme, states directly: “Lab-grown diamonds are not applicable to this program.” It accepts only diamonds of at least one carat, minimum SI2 clarity and K colour, graded by GIA. Its separate upgrade route is likewise limited to natural Ritani diamonds graded by GIA or AGSL.

So if you buy a lab-grown ring from Ritani, both exit routes are closed. That does not make the ring worse, but it means discounting those programmes to zero. With Clarity publishes no upgrade page we could verify, so we claim nothing either way.

Who grades the diamonds, and where are the rings made?

On manufacturing, Ritani is unusually specific. It holds no stock, makes every piece to order at current market pricing on metals, and handcrafts rings in its own White Plains, New York factory with in-house gemologists. It pairs this with price transparency, publishing how the metal, the labour and the diamond each contribute. With Clarity publishes no equivalent manufacturing statement, but does have the SoHo showroom it opened in 2024, virtual appointments, and a Synchrony Bank store card.

Who should choose which?

Choose Ritani if you want to see the actual diamond before paying, if made-to-order manufacturing and a published price breakdown appeal, or if a year-long resize window beats a few extra return days. It fits a buyer anxious about the stone.

Choose With Clarity if your uncertainty is about style rather than stone — replicas at home answer “does this shape suit my hand” better than a scheduled appointment — if you want a return window starting when the parcel arrives, or if a New York showroom and store financing fit how you buy. It also suits buyers outside the United States better.
