The honest difference between side stone and halo is direction. A halo works outward from the centre and makes that one stone read larger; side stones work along the finger and make the whole ring read wider. If the goal is apparent centre size, the halo is the more efficient purchase. If the goal is a ring that catches light from every angle at a sensible price, this is the page.
One practical note. Accent stones sit closer to the finger than a raised solitaire does, so they collect more of the everyday film of soap and hand cream that dulls a ring — warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft brush handles it, and professional cleaning is available through our workshop as a paid service. Three stone or side stone — what is the difference?
Three stone uses two substantial stones flanking the centre, usually chosen to carry meaning, and reads as three distinct diamonds. Side stone uses smaller accents along the shoulders that add sparkle without competing with the centre. We carry 120 three stone designs across the range and 273 side stone designs across the range, and side stone is the less expensive route to added brilliance.
Do side stones make a ring look bigger?
They make it look wider rather than larger in the centre. Side stones run along the shoulders and extend the field of sparkle across the finger, which reads as more ring for the money — a halo is the setting that enlarges the centre stone itself. We carry 273 side stone designs across the range, and they are the least expensive route to added brilliance.
Are side stones harder to keep clean?

Are hoop earrings comfortable for daily wear?

How do I clean a lab grown diamond piece at home?
Warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft toothbrush around the setting, then rinse and dry on a lint-free cloth. That removes the film of hand cream and soap that dulls most rings.
