The ear is the one place a two-stone design carries no durability penalty. Prong security is the constraint that rules two-stone rings out, and it barely applies to an earring. Because both are brilliant cuts the sparkle matches exactly and only the outline changes, which makes this the softest pairing we make and the one to choose if you want the format without a strong statement.
The two outlines are close enough that weight can be matched almost directly, which makes this the easiest pairing to get visually right. Production starts after the order, which leaves room to settle the balance first. A short video consultation settles this faster than any product photograph will. Both diamonds carry an IGI report in the box, and every pair ships free within the U.S. with 30-day returns.

What arrives in the box?
The piece, and its IGI grading report. The report number is laser-inscribed on the girdle of the stone, so the paperwork can always be matched back to the diamond itself. Everything is made to order in our New York Diamond District workshop and ships insured with a signature required.
What is the difference between a lab grown diamond and moissanite?
They are different materials, not two grades of the same thing. Moissanite is silicon carbide, a separate mineral with its own scale and its own pricing. A lab-grown diamond is carbon in the diamond crystal structure, 10 on the Mohs scale, optically identical to a mined stone. Moissanite also disperses light far harder, which is the rainbow flash people recognize across a room. Every Beyond Carat piece is set with a diamond.
Why do two diamonds with the same color and clarity sparkle differently?
Cut, almost every time. Color and clarity grade the material; cut grades the workmanship, and it decides how much light comes back out of the table instead of leaking through the pavilion. Two stones can both be D color and VS1 and still look nothing alike because one is cut to better proportions. We hold Excellent cut across the range for that reason — it is the grade that does the visible work.

Do you make two stone rings as well?
Not as engagement rings. The two-shape designs we build in ring form are cluster and eternity styles rather than a pair of principal stones. If you want two stones on one band, contact us and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot make to order.
