A heart carries its weight in width and an emerald cut in length, so the two are matched on how much of the lobe they cover rather than on carat. Which is better, a lab grown diamond or moissanite?
Better depends on what you are buying for, and the two are not competing versions of one thing. Moissanite costs less again and throws far more colored fire, which some people love and others read as artificial. A lab-grown diamond is diamond — same hardness, same optical behaviour, same grading scale — and holds its look under any light. We make only diamond, and would rather say so than pose as neutral.
What does it mean when a lab grown diamond ring is certified?
It means an independent laboratory graded the centre stone and issued a report that travels with it — not that anybody inspected the ring as a whole. On every Beyond Carat piece that laboratory is IGI; its report rides in the box and its number is inscribed on the girdle, so paperwork and stone can always be matched. A ring sold without one cannot be checked at all.
Do you make two stone rings as well?
Not as engagement rings. The two-shape designs we build in ring form are cluster and eternity styles rather than a pair of principal stones. If you want two stones on one band, contact us and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot make to order.
